As you would expect the area is rich with things to do and to list them all would be impossible, however, the more notable ones are:
Locally
- Beach - Juan-les-Pins has the best beach in the area including 35 beach clubs, restaurants and snack stands. Turn left at the front door and take the next left down to the public beach.
- Markets -
Friday morning at Pont Dulys along the road, a few stalls selling clothing and hardware.
Thursday morning in Antibes behind La Poste and in Place Nationale, extensive market for clothing and hardware.
Every morning in old Antibes - Marché Provençal, food
Saturday - antiques/collectables in Place Nationale and the ramparts, Antibes
Saturday - in old Antibes below the Marché Provinçal, car boot type sale
- Shopping -
2 small supermarkets nearby, Spar and Leader Price. A larger Leclerc supermarket is at Antibes les Pins near the terminus of the ligne 1 bus.
Carrefour - enormous with 87 checkouts. Take number 1 bus to La Chappelle des Combes, the store is at the top of the wall where you get off. Walk up the steps (50m further on after alighting from the bus).
- Nightclubs - 2 in Antibes and 2 in Juan-les-Pins but not close enough to be a problem.
- Casinos -
slot machines during the day plus tables later but you will need to dress up. Photo identity required.
2 venues - at the Pinede in Juan and La Siesta on the coast road on the far side of Antibes.
- Water activities - waterskiing, wakeboarding, parasailing, tubing from the beach. Diving school on the Cap. Jet ski hire at Villeneuve Loubet; sail board and catamaran hire at Cros de Cagnes.
- Old Antibes. Narrow streets and tall, old houses. Take the number 1 bus to Place du General de Gaulle, the main square in Antibes, where the fountains are. Walk diagonally across the square, mind the fountains don't get you, and down past the gare routiere(bus station) and keep going. You will find many shops as well as the markets - see above.
- Golfe Juan. This a very pleasant walk along the beach or the sea wall. If this has exhausted you walk up into the town and return by bus. Catch the 200 on the main road, the stop is on the left from the road you have walked up.
- Antibesland - a large permanent funfair on the eastern side of Antibes. It now has the Ferris wheel that was in Paris.
Take the bus to Biot railway station (arret SNCF), turn left at the next island towards Nice - about 100m.
- Marineland - the largest sealife park in Europe - next to Antibesland.
- Aquasplash - swimming pools with waterslides etc. next to Antibesland and Marineland
- La Petite Ferme - funfair rides with a cowboy theme for small children next to Antibesland and Marineland
- Karts and trampolines for older children on the sea front
- Visiobulle, glass bottomed boat trips from the beach to the end of the Cap.
- Museums - Picasso, Archéologique, Napoléonien - find their locations on the street map.
- Fort Carré - spectacular 17th century fort on the edge of the sea designed by Vauban. Take the 200 bus to the SNCF Passerelle, walk over the bridge and around the marina to the fort.
- The Cathedral - close to Marché Provençal - very old and small but dripping with gold
- Port Vauban in Antibes - largest private marina in the Mediterranean. 2,400 huge and hugely expensive yachts and motor yachts. Small motor boats for hire in the old harbour. Well worth a stroll around.
- Unmissable boat trip to the Îles de Lérins, Sainte Mageurite - from the beach in the season or if not from Golfe Juan. The island is stunning - covered in trees and with another fort designed by Vauban!
- Swimming pools, 2 indoor and 2 outdoor including Olympic sized pool and a diving pool. Alight from number 1 bus at Stade Nautique just after Antibes town centre.
- There is always something happening - festivals, exhibitions, markets etc. You will find many brochures in the apartment. However, please go to the Office de Tourisme, on the front, on your first day to discover if there is something unmissable happening during your stay.
Further afield
- Cannes - wonderful shops and all the attractions of a large resort. Climb the hill through the old town to the chateau, which is now a museum, for a panoramic view over the marinas, old and modern towns and the bay. The main street for shops is Rue d'Antibes.
- Nice - the Promenade des Anglais/Quai des Etats Unis leading to the flower market in the old town and on to the old port. Breathtaking views from the top of the cliff at the eastern end of the beach where the Chateau once stood - there is a lift up the cliff.
- Horse Race Track (Hippodrome) at Cagnes-sur-Mer. Racing most days - flat, hurdles and trotting. The 200 bus goes near it.
- Grasse - the perfume manufacturing capital of the world - they say. You get wafts of perfume as you walk around the wonderful old town. You can visit three of the factories and even make up your own perfume in one of them.
- Haut Cagnes - the old town of Cagnes-sur-Mer. Walk up if you are fit otherwise take the free bus (navette) from the Cagnes-sur-Mer bus station. Stunning views from the top. The chateau can be visited, it's now an art gallery, with even better views from the tower.
- Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild. Beautiful palace and gardens.
- Monte Carlo - casino, harbour, royal palace and old town. Get there by train.
- Menton. Beautiful town between Monte Carlo and Italy. Get there by train.
- Italy - take a day trip to Ventimiglia by train, just over the border, for the huge, cheap market for designer goods. Get there by the French train.
- Needs a car. Draguignan - United States war cemetary and memorial. Beautiful - brings a lump to the throat. The Tank Museum is on the opposite side of the road.
- Needs a car. Musee de l'Automobiliste at the first services on the motorway towards Cannes. Can also be accessed from Route de Grasse. Entry 7€.
- Needs a car. Eze, Moyenne Corniche and Grande Corniche
Eze is a village built around a conical rock with a ruined castle on the top - straight out of Disney! To get there drive along the Moyenne Corniche towards Monaco. This starts at the old port in Nice, runs along the cliffs half way up and gives fabulaous views of Villefranche, Cap Ferrat etc.. Having been thoroughly amazed by Eze continue the adventure by returning to Nice via the Grande Corniche which runs near the top of the cliffs. From it you will find turnoffs to Fort de la Revere and Mont Bastide which go to the peaks.
- The mountains - caves and gorges. Study your road map.
